Enhancing your bouquets with essential fillers
When creating a bouquet, it’s easy to focus on showstoppers like Dahlias and Sunflowers. But filler, the unsung heroes of floral arrangement, are just as important. They provide texture, contrast, and balance; transforming bouquets into cohesive masterpieces. This year at Native Bloom Flower Farm, I’m expanding my filler lineup and want to share some favorites that deserve a spot in your 2025 bouquets.
Ammi
With its lacy, white blooms, Ammi adds airiness to arrangements and pairs beautifully with any flower. It’s easy to grow and thrives in full sun.
Daucus Dara
Known for its rich shades of burgundy, pink, and cream, Dara offers a moody, elegant alternative to traditional Queen Anne’s lace. Its delicate, airy blooms complement both bold and soft floral designs.
Statice
Statice’s vibrant, papery blooms come in various colors and work well in fresh or dried bouquets. Its long vase life makes it a favorite for florists.
Ageratum
Ageratum’s fluffy blooms in shades of blue, pink, and white add charm and texture to summer arrangements.
Fresh Herbs
Mint, Basil, Chamomile, Rosemary, and Dill bring fragrance, texture, and versatility to bouquets. Bonus: they double as culinary herbs!
Pussy Willow
With soft, silvery catkins, pussy willow is a fantastic filler for early spring bouquets and lasts weeks in arrangements.
Dusty Miller
Prized for its silvery-gray foliage, dusty miller provides balance to bright blooms and helps create bouquet structure.
Eucalyptus
Its silvery-green leaves and unique aroma add whimsy and elegance to any arrangement. Whether for a rustic bridal bouquet or a vibrant centerpiece, eucalyptus brings texture and depth. Plus, it stays fresh for days, making your bouquets irresistibly lush.
Fillers are the backbone of every beautiful arrangement, and they also boost biodiversity by attracting pollinators and beneficial insects. Adding options like Ammi or Eucalyptus will enhance your design and set your bouquet apart.
